With StereoActive, the New Zealand manufacturer Fusion has a Bluetooth speaker in its range that is particularly interesting for sailors. Measuring 24 x 8 x 14 centimetres, the speaker can be paired with a smartphone via Bluetooth and plays music via two speakers with a combined output of 20 watts. Alternatively, your favourite album can also be connected via USB memory, or you can simply listen to the radio the old-fashioned way. StereoActive does not differ significantly from other products in this respect.
However, the new speaker from Fusion is said to be waterproof in accordance with the IPX7 standard. This means it can withstand a depth of one metre of water for 30 minutes. However, it should not be submerged that far, as the speaker is floatable. The housing is made of robust plastic and the buttons on the top are particularly large and can also be operated with gloves. There is also an attachment that allows the jukebox to be securely positioned on board.
The lithium-ion battery is designed to play music for up to 20 hours. The smartphone can also be charged via the USB port. The jukebox can be controlled via smartphone and smartwatch using the Fusion Link app. There is a holder for the Garmin Virb action cam on the top. The ActiveSafe, a base that can be attached under the speaker, is also available as an accessory. What looks like an additional battery at first glance is actually a waterproof compartment for smartphones and car keys. This means that the StereoActive can also be taken along on a stand-up paddleboard or in a dinghy without any worries. Even though the season is coming to an end, the speaker is sure to keep you in a good mood indoors.
The StereoActive Bluetooth speaker weighs 1.3 kilograms and is available in red, blue and white. It costs 350 euros. No price has yet been set for the accessories. Available from December.
